Jessica Hynes, star of TV comedy Spaced, hosted the first
sell out Stand Up Get Down comedy
event in support of NCH's Growing
Strong campaign.
As well as flexing her own 'stand up' muscles, Jessica called on
the hottest names in comedy to support NCH.
The crowd at London's Madame JoJo's, were treated to a glittering
line up of Stephen Merchant (of The Office and
Extras fame), award winning Josie Long, off the wall Rich
Fulcher (best
known for playing Bob Fossil in The Mighty Boosh) and the brilliant Michael
Smiley (Tyres in Spaced).
Never Mind The Buzzcocks presenter
Simon Amstell made a surprise appearance on stage – much
to the delight of the audience.
Rising stars Roisin Carty, Grainne Murphy and BBC award winner Miriam
Elia joined the stellar line up along with Piff the
Magic Dragon, who
drew gasps and giggles with his unique mix of comedy and magic.
DJ Format and Russ Cuban of the Cuban Brothers got revellers on their
feet and 'getting down' into the wee hours of the morning.
Jessica said of the event; "It was a great night but what really
mattered is that it was all in support of NCH". Stand
Up Get Down increased awareness of Growing Strong NCH's campaign to ensure that every child and young person has the self esteem,
resilience and social skills
they need to succeed in life.
